New Mexico Western SARE

The Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) program of the U.S. Department of Agriculture functions through competitive grants conducted cooperatively by farmers, ranchers, researchers and agricultural professionals to advance farm and ranch systems that are profitable, environmentally sound and good for communities. The state of New Mexico is part of the western region SARE (WSARE) program and is housed by New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

SARE's vision is an enduring American agriculture of the highest quality. This agriculture is profitable, protects the nation's land and water and is a force for a rewarding way of life for farmers and ranchers whose quality products and operations sustain their communities and society. Our mission is to advance agriculture through training and support of innovations that improve profitability, stewardship and quality of life by investing in groundbreaking research and education.
