I've always put others first, always them before me. In the last couple of years i've learned what my mom has been trying to tell all my life. You got to love yourself, before you can love others. You got to help yourself, before helping others. You cant pour from a empty cup.

Doing what it takes to fill yourself, first, with what you need to feel safe before trying to help another person — meaning giving yourself the love, kindness, compassion, approval, encouragement, and support we all need — will take you out of survival mode, and allow the natural empathy, compassion, and altruism to overflow to others automatically.
