The Hecatonchire is a creature with origins in Greek mythology, legend and folklore. Later, it also gains connections to Roman mythology, legend and folklore. The name itself is derived from the Greek 'heka' or 'hekaton' (in Latin, 'centi'), which means 'one-hundred', and 'kheir' (in Latin, 'manus'), which means 'hand'.
