Ashaway, Rhode Island

Ashaway is a village and a census-designated place in Washington County, Rhode Island. It is part of the town of Hopkinton. The 2020 United States Census showed 8,398 people in Hopkinton and Ashaway together.[1] In Ashaway itself, 2021 reports showed 1,449 people on July 1.[2] Ashaway and Hopkinton are north of Westerly and Watch Hill in southwestern Rhode Island at the Connecticut border.

The Ashaway name comes from the river's name. That name of the river was Ashawague. It ran straight through the village.
