Central Ontario is part of Southern Ontario in the Canadian province of Ontario.[1] It is between Georgian Bay and the eastern end of Lake Ontario. Its area is 39,814 square kilometres (15,372 sq mi). The population was 1,070,644 in 2011. It is mostly rural. The southern part is more densely populated than the northern part. Some of the largest cities include Peterborough, Barrie, and Belleville.
