I am a development economist with most of my research centering around questions in public economics and labor economics such as targeting of social transfers or women's career choices. Beyond these focus areas, I have also completed and ongoing projects in the areas of open science, health and taxation. I use experimental and quasi-experimental methods and often work jointly with NGOs and government partners.

I work as a tenured Senior Researcher at the Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI) in Bergen (Norway) and contribute to the work at the Development Learning Lab (DLL),  established by CMI, the Norwegian School of Economics and the University of Bergen. I provide evidence-based advice to development organizations and lead learning networks for development practitioners.

I am also a principal investigator in the Cluster of Excellence "The Politics of Inequality" (University of Konstanz) and at the Inclusion Economics India Centre (formerly Evidence for Policy Design India).

My research has been funded by the German Science Foundation through the Excellence Strategy, International Growth Centre, Swiss National Science Foundation and the Thurgau Institute of Economics.
