ASU Staff Council: making a difference

FASHION FORWARD - April 4th and 5th 

The Staff Council Sustainability Program in collaboration with ISSC are pleased to announce the 4th Annual Clothing Drive and Clothing Closet known as Fashion Forward. Each year, more than 18,000 lbs. of textile consumer waste are transferred to the City of Phoenix waste and recycling streams, being incinerated, or dumped in landfills before the end of their material life. What you can spare, someone else can wear. Your used and unwanted clothes have value. 

Each year, the ASU Staff Council Sustainability Program and ISSC gathers gently used clothing and accessories to offer a FREE boutique to students and staff. Departments across campus will host donation boxes throughout February and March. Students and staff can shop the free secondhand clothing during the open closet event on April 4-5. Beyond simply providing clothing, this event serves as an educational platform where local organizations host tables and lead workshops that offer insights into sustainable fashion practices. Our goal is to exceed last year’s 5,060 lbs. of donations, all of which were redirected to 557 ASU students and staff. And we had 62 donation locations! 

Collection donations sites are currently being finalized and will be posted on this page in the near future. Please stay tuned. In the meantime, please continue to share this news, solicit the volunteer opportunities and do a little "spring cleaning."
