Hi Mike,

re: running McIDAS within a VNC session has problems with colors

>Thanks, Tom. We're trying to run this on Windows XP Pro, if that helps.

I checked with one of our system administrators, and he commented
that the problem you are having should be related to the VNC server
setup, not the client. In particular, he noted that you should
use the prebuilt binary for the VNC server as this avoids some of the
color problems. He also said that if you decide to build the VNC server from
source,
you may run into color map problems.

Questions:

- on which system is the VNC server running? Is this on cyclone?

- how was the VNC server installed: built from source; installed binary?

Tom,

I re-installed the binary version VNC and now things are running better.
Still limited to at total of 62(?) colors, but this will suffice for the
meteorology class.

Thanks again for your help...as always, you rock!

Have a good weekend.

Mike
