The Torah is the first part of the Jewish bible. Torah refers to the five Books of Moses. It is the central and most important document of Judaism and had been used by Jews through the ages. Torah can also refer to the entire body of Jewish law and wisdom, including what is contained in oral tradition. Rabbinic writings indicated that the Oral Torah was given to Moses at Mount Sinai, which occurred in 1312 BC.
