Carr Creek Lake
Carr Creek Lake (formerly Carr Fork Lake), located east of Hazard, Kentucky, along Kentucky Route 15 in Knott County, is a 710 acres reservoir created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1976. Carr Creek Lake's earth and rock fill dam is 130 ft (40 m) tall and 720 ft (219 m) long, and the dam is located 8.8 mi (14 km) above the mouth of Carr Fork River, a tributary of the North Fork Kentucky River. The lake is the main attraction of Carr Creek State Park.

WSGS
WSGS is a radio station based in Hazard, Kentucky. The station first began broadcasting in the 1950s as the first FM station in the East Kentucky Coal Fields During the 1960s WSGS held the distinction of being the most powerful FM in the state. Today - WSGS broadcasts a 100,000 watt signal and has a greater coverage area than any FM station in Kentucky based on FM Atlas, a national publication. The station was the first in Kentucky to broadcast a Country music format on the FM dial.

WYMT-TV is the CBS-affiliated television station for Hazard, Kentucky. It broadcasts a high definition digital signal on VHF channel 12 from a transmitter south of the city in Perry County. Owned by Gray Television, the station is sister to Lexington's CBS affiliate WKYT-TV. Although it identifies as a station in its own right, WYMT is considered a semi-satellite of WKYT.

Cornettsville, Kentucky
Cornettsville is an unincorporated community in Perry County, Kentucky, United States, within the state's eastern mountain region known for coal mining. The population is 792 as of the 2000 United States Census. The town was named for one of the early pioneers to the area, William Jesse Cornett, whose log cabin and burial site can still be seen today.
