UK closed Tuesday, Jan. 7; UK HealthCare remains open
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 6, 2025) — In the interest of the safety and well-being of our community, the University of Kentucky will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 7, due to inclement weather.
In-person activities will not take place on campus.
To support the health care needs of our community, UK HealthCare hospitals and clinics remain open and operating on their normal schedules. If required, any changes in hours for clinics will be posted to www.uky.edu/alerts.
UK is taking this step after reviewing current conditions and continued efforts to remove snow and ice from roads, sidewalks and parking lots. As UK Facilities Management crews have been working diligently over the past several days, we anticipate, barring any unforeseen circumstances, that the university will be fully open and operational on Wednesday, Jan. 8.
If you are on campus Tuesday, please exercise caution and view tips to navigate campus safely, including maps showing the first sidewalks to be cleared during winter weather.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
