Puneet Jain, Intel, has been re-elected – by acclamation - as 3GPP TSG SA Chair during the TSG SA#107 meeting in Incheon, Korea.

TSG Service and System Aspects (SA) is working on the specifications for the overall architecture and service capabilities of systems. It has six working groups reporting to it, including SA1 and SA2 covering new requirements, functional enhancements and system architecture interface design as well as four dedicated groups for Security and Privacy (SA3); Multimedia Codecs, Systems and Services (SA4); Management, Orchestration and Charging (SA5) and Application Enablement & Critical Communication Applications (SA6).

Puneet Jain has served as TSG SA Chair since June 2023, overseeing the successful completion of the first 5G-Advanced release (Rel-18) and driving the progress of Release 19 features towards their completion later this year.

TSG SA Vice-chairs Tao Sun (China Mobile), Johannes Achter (Deutsche Telekom) and Laeyoung Kim (LG Electronics) were also elected this week, each for their first two-year mandate.

The newly elected SA leadership will start work from TSG SA#108 in Prague, in June 2025 for a term of two years, up to and including the March 2027 plenaries.

Results

Elections for the positions of a Chair & Vice-Chairs of TSG SA were held during the SA meeting#107:

• Puneet Jain representing Intel (ATIS) was re-elected to Chair.
• Tao Sun representing China Mobile Com. Corporation (CCSA) was elected new Vice Chair.
• Johannes Achter representing Deutsche Telekom AG (ETSI) was elected new Vice Chair.
• Laeyoung Kim representing LG Electronics Inc. (TTA) was elected new Vice Chair.
