Hydrogen Sulfide testing at Georgia-Pacific in Crossett

Georgia-Pacific, in cooperation with Region 6 of the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the Arkansas Division of Environmental Quality, and the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH), is voluntarily conducting an ambient air monitoring assessment for hydrogen sulfide in Crossett. Georgia-Pacific has hired an independent environmental consulting company, TRC, to operate and maintain a continuous monitor to measure the levels of hydrogen sulfide in the community near its facilities in Crossett. TRC is responsible for verifying the accuracy of the data and providing the data to ADH every two weeks for their assessment. If the levels of hydrogen sulfide are consistently elevated above screening values, that data will be provided to ADH before the two-week time frame, and the community will be notified as soon as possible. After ADH review, the data, along with an initial assessment of the data, will be made available on the list of links below. The information collected will be used to inform a health consultation report that will be developed by ADH in consultation with the Agency for Toxic Substances.
