2025/01/07 China Earthquake A magnitude 6.8 earthquake rocked the northern foothills of the Himalayas near one of Tibet's holiest cities on Tuesday, 7 January 2025, killing at least nine people. 2024/12/17 Vanuatu Earthquake A 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck 30 km west of Port Vila, Vanuatu, on 17 December 2024, at 12:47 PM local time. Preliminary reports indicate observed damages to buildings and infrastructure in Port Vila, with six unconfirmed casualties and injuries reported. 2024/12/15 Mozambique Tropical Cyclone Tropical Cyclone Chido made landfall in northern Mozambique on 15 December 2024, impacting Cabo Delgado, Nampula and Niassa provinces. According to the National Institute for Natural Disaster (INGD), a total of 380,000 individuals (76,100 households) are estimated to be affected by the cyclone. Over 88,670 houses were completely or partially destroyed. 2024/12/09 Philippines (the) Volcano On 9 December 2024 at 7:03 UTC, Kanlaon volcano, located on Negros Island, increased its activity with an explosion that produced a plume 3 km high above the summit of the crater and pyroclastic flows descended the slopes on the southeastern flanks of the volcano. 2024/12/03 Indonesia Flood Floods and landslides hit a number of areas in Cianjur Regency, West Java Province, on 3 December 2024, due to heavy rainfall. The disasters caused significant damage in several sub-districts and resulted in casualties. According to the National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB), as of 6 December, two people died and six are still missing in the Simpenan district of the Sukabumi regency, in West Java province.

The mission is to enhance disaster resilience of its member countries, to create safe communities where people can live with peace of mind, and to create a society that enables sustainable development.
For the purpose, the ADRC is promoting the establishment of multilateral networks through personnel exchanges and a variety of other programs for disaster risk reduction in Asia.
