APT Québec: Advancing Heritage Preservation in Quebec
Founded in 2007, APT Québec is the Québec chapter of the Association for Preservation Technology International (APT), dedicated to advancing the use of innovative technologies in the conservation of historic structures. The chapter’s mission is to unite professionals working in heritage restoration and to promote the adoption of the best practices and technologies for preserving Québec's built heritage.

Our Mission
APT Québec aims to create a platform for communication and collaboration between professionals involved in the restoration and preservation of historic buildings. This includes architects, urban planners, conservators, restorers, engineering firms, artisans, and students in heritage-related fields. The chapter’s activities encourage the exchange of knowledge, foster professional development, and help ensure that preservation practices in Quebec are effective, sustainable, and up-to-date with the latest advancements.

Partnership with Action Patrimoine
Since 2015, APT Québec has partnered with Action Patrimoine, a leading organization in Québec’s heritage conservation community. This collaboration has allowed the chapter to organize an annual large-scale event that brings together a wide range of professionals and organizations dedicated to the restoration and preservation of Quebec’s historic buildings.

Annual Events & Activities
Each year, APT Québec coordinates a major event that serves as a meeting point for professionals in the preservation field. These events are designed to:

  • Promote the Latest Preservation Technologies: Presenting new tools, materials, and methods for conserving historic buildings.
  • Facilitate Networking and Knowledge Exchange: Connecting professionals across different sectors, including architecture, engineering, heritage conservation, and urban planning.
  • Support Professional Development: Offering workshops, talks, and case studies on best practices in the field of historic preservation.
  • Engage the Next Generation: Providing opportunities for students and emerging professionals to learn from experienced mentors and industry leaders.

Leadership
The chapter is led by a dedicated team of 11 professionals from a range of disciplines, ensuring that APT Québec reflects the breadth of expertise and perspectives within the preservation community. This leadership team works to ensure the chapter’s initiatives align with the needs of the community and the evolving challenges of heritage conservation in Québec.
