Memorandum to Federal Records Management Contacts: Presidential Transition Letter to Agency Heads

This week, the Archivist of the United States sent a letter to agency heads reminding them of the importance of federal records management during a presidential transition. 

In this letter, the Archivist emphasizes the crucial importance for agency heads to work with their Senior Agency Official for Records Management and Agency Records Officers to have a successful transition. All agency officials and employees must be properly briefed on their records management responsibilities during a presidential transition. 

In my role, I wanted to also share this important message with the broader federal records management community. Please review the resources we have posted on our website for additional information about federal records management during transition.
