Licenses and author rights

CZ   EN
You can define your own author rights for your images in BioLib (either globally for all your images, or different for particular images). By selecting a predefined license for your images you can better express your which author rights you wish to retain and which rights you wish to give up when someone wants to use your image in some way.

If no license is selected and no copyright statement is provided for the image, it is considered as a copyrighted image and it is not allowed to use it in any way unless its author gives you his permission.
Copyright - All rights reserved
In order to use this work you have to ask its author for permission. This doesn't mean that author won't allow you to use the image (or use it freely), but you have to ask him.

Public Domain
Work can be freely used for any purpose, even commercial one. Original author of image doesn't have to be mentioned under shared or derived work.

CC-BY Creative Commons Attribution License - work can be freely copied and altered by anyone, but the original author must be credited with the derived work.

CC-BY-NC Creative Commons Attribution NonCommercial License - work can be freely copied and altered only for non-commercial purposes. Original author must be credited.

CC-BY-ND Creative Commons Attribution NoDerivs License - work can be freely copied, must must not be altered. Original author must be credited.

CC-BY-SA Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike License - work can be freely copied and altered, but must be shared under the same license in which it was obtained. Original author must be credited.

CC-BY-NC-SD Creative Commons Attribution NonCommercial NoDerivs License - work can be used only for non-commercial purposes and it must not be altered. Original author must be credited.

CC-BY-NC-SA Creative Commons Attribution NonCommercial ShareAlike License - work can be freely used for any non-commercial purposes, but must be shared under the original license under which it was obtained. Original author must be credited.

Note: Creative Commons Licenses define what rights author wishes to retain and which to give up. None of these licenses does say that the author of the work has to be told about where his work was used. However many of the authors appreciate if they're informed where their works appeared.
