Childcare

We are parents first, and employees second. Our families are the reason we come to work every day! CBP recognizes how important your children are to you, and provides you with resources to help you manage your work/life balance.

The CBP Child Care Subsidy Program applies to full- and part-time employees whose children are under the age of 13 or disabled and under the age of 18. Additionally, the program applies to children currently enrolled, or beginning child care within 30 days of registration for this program, with a licensed in-home or center-based child care service. The child care must be licensed* and/or regulated by State and/or local authorities. Before/after school care and summer camps may also qualify. To be eligible to participate in this program, your gross household income must fall into one of the categories below:

Total Family Income Maximum Subsidy Per Family Per Month
$152,000 and below* $400.00
$152,001 - $175,000* $300.00
Over $175,000* $0.00

*Updated as of 06/28/2024. Previous Total Family Income thresholds were:

  • $120,000 and below
  • $120,001 - $144,000
  • Over $144,000

For more information, please visit CBPChildcareSubsidy.com.

*Child care licensing requirements vary by state. To research local child care regulations and find a child care provider near you, visit our research guide.

*If you qualify for the program but are struggling to find an eligible child care provider near you, empower your current child care provider - including family members or friends - to become certified, so you can access the subsidy without changing your support system.

The CBP Backup Care Program offers you and your family more family care options. This program will help employees find and pay for temporary short-term center or in-home care so you can be at work when your regular child/adult/elder/pet care is unavailable. Backup care might be needed when:

  • Your child’s school is closed
  • Your child cannot attend school or childcare facility due to an illness
  • You have an important meeting to attend and your regular caregiver is unavailable or
  • You have to travel, attend training, or work longer hours, and your care provider is unavailable.

Eligible CBP employees are responsible for: requesting the use of a private lactation room/space with reasonable notice; providing their own breast pump; maintaining the cleanliness of the lactation room/space and cleaning up any expressed milk spillage; storing all expressed milk in closed containers; and taking all expressed milk home daily.
