Support for First-Generation Students

Lisa Stock

College of DuPage Assistant Provost of Instruction Lisa Stock talks about her experience as a first-generation college student.

It's easy to feel intimidated when applying for college. COD has resources available that can help you through the application process, register for classes and get involved with other students and activities on campus.

Still have questions? Contact our staff at Campus Central.

Applying to COD is as easy as one, two, three. The best way to get started is to schedule an appointment with an Admissions Representative or attend an upcoming Information Session. Information Sessions are free events that will help you learn what you need to do to apply to COD.

For additional questions on admissions, call (630) 942-2626 or email admissions@cod.edu.

The Counseling, Advising and Transfer Services department is available to help students with academic advising, career counseling and personal counseling.

Counselors and advisors will work with you on your plans before, during and after community college.

First-Generation Student Group

Counseling, Advising and Transfer Services hosts monthly drop-in meetings for first-generation students. Students have the opportunity to connect with faculty, staff and other first-generation students.

If you have questions about Counseling, Advising and Transfer Services or want to schedule an appointment, call (630) 942-2259.

Four types of financial aid are available to students: grants, loans, scholarships and work-study.

In order to apply for financial aid, students must first meet basic eligibility requirements and complete their admissions application. Once you have applied, you can then complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

For more information on student financial assistance, call the Financial Aid office at (630) 942-2251 or email financialaid@cod.edu.

Getting involved on campus boosts your success and enriches your college experience. After being accepted to COD, New Student Orientation (NSO) will help introduce you into the college experience. You'll have the chance to meet new people and discover opportunities all around campus.
