He's been writing since his early grade school years, encouraged by his 3rd grade teacher who saw his writing potential (from his blatant bullshitting from winging a story that got him an A-,). To the point where she made a special arrangement so that Travis could go to a creative writing seminar held for kids, one that his school was not invited to attend.
Growing up, some of his main influences came from some unusual places outside of reading (Though LOTR is a major literary inspiration), primarily fantasy video games and anime. Both visually beautiful pieces of art, vast in terms of unique ideas and stories, and both thoroughly testing his patience in waiting as well as enjoying the long running narratives. Leading to their proper endings for stories that can span over a decade. (Eg. the 'Legend of Zelda' video game series, and, the 'One Piece' anime series.)
Were Travis a bragging man he'd probably mention the fact that he's done things like: attended APCA's (Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities) National Leadership program in N.Y.C., or the fact that he was lucky enough to have a one-off being a cameraman for a concert of 'The Plain White Tees', and possibly that he's had two of his photos featured as the cover art for a nationally accredited academic journal titled 'Slippery Elm'. (Also that he did it two years in a row!)view less
