After the researcher got laid off from MDHC, she went on to receive her BA in management from the University of Phoenix and MBA in management from Western International University. She can recall that the techniques were never taught in these schools or at any of the jobs that she listed in this book. She learned how to apply the statistical methods from a few courses to conduct her own experiments for this research proposal.
In this research study, I apply various methods of total quality techniques to solve problems I experienced on my jobs over the last thirty years that I have worked for various electronic companies in Arizona. I listed only some of the techniques I used. You can apply the same techniques on any job if you understand which technique to apply. Time is of the essence. You must learn to work smarter, not harder.
Poor teaching of statistical methods in colleges and universities is awakening to the need for quality but with no idea what quality means or how to achieve it in the industry today. Dr. Deming states, “No one should teach the theory and use the control charts without knowledge of statistical theory through at least the master’s level, supplemented by experience under a master. I make this statement on the basis of experience, seeing every day the devastating effects of incompetent teaching and faulty application.”
The researcher agrees with what Dr. Deming stated based on her work history, experience, and education. Students today should go through an internship program with an electronics company, assisted by a master while working on their MBA degree in management in the electronics industry. The student should also have at least a diploma in electronic technology, if not the two-year degree applied science in electronic technology, to understand the basic on the theory of electronic technology. Other companies will require different statistical tests. It takes a lifetime to learn these techniques and gain the education and experience.view less
