About this ebook
How many ways are there to die as you hunt out here in the icy Minnesota winter? Too many: frost-bite, wild animals, disease, starvation. More if you count the dead things hunting you in turn. The worst has to be the same people you'd hoped you could count as allies here at the end of the world. Hate, though, as blinding as the snow, has a way of making even the end of the world seem like just another day at work in years past, riding a lawn-mower and enjoying the sunshine. There and then, at least, God never hated you for being gay...

I live just outside Raleigh, North Carolina. I've only been professionally published once, in last fall's edition of Flashquake online magazine, but I hope it's the start of something long term. I'm happily married, and I'm the father to two beautiful little girls, ages five and two, who will never be allowed to date boys, drive cars that are transporting boys, nor ride in cars to places where boys are present, or wear non-Amish-spinster-approved clothing in front of boys. I love horror movies, rhythmic noise, peanut butter, and the Munsters, not necessarily in that order. Please feel free to contact me if you want; I'd love to hear what you thought of the book. My e-mail address is zombieapocalypse at earthlink.net. Thanks for reading.

Children of God
I'll only ever say it like it is, and it's like this: fags will kill themselves off with AIDS, and when they do, they'll burn in Hell.
God hates fags. He hates them and He'll make sure they get the Hell they deserve.
This from Jack's father when Jack had been a teenager doubting not only his sexuality but sometimes his very sanity. He could have used a helping hand back then, a sympathetic ear. Instead all he ever got was disgust and vitriol.
God hates fags.
Since then, he'd often longed for a place where no one thought those kinds of things, where no one screamed them in banshee tones.
Heaven, to Jack, is other people closing their mouths.

Look him in the eye. That's all Jack wants you to do. He dares you to do it, in fact. He dares you to look him in the eye and tell him he's not just like you. Look at the fear there, fear about the future, about the past. Look at his hair, graying at thirty two; look at the lines on his face; look at the scars on his hands, and if you can see them, the scars on his heart.
He dares you to look at him and see something different than what you see when you look at yourself in the mirror: a human being. A human being with all the same needs as
