Dreams of the Departed

About this ebook
The Moon Cried Blood chronicle continues with "Dreams of the Departed". For Tisha Gordon, it is a family reunion. For her mother Joy, it is a homecoming. Things seem to have calmed down in both of their lives, but things are still not all wine and roses for the Gordon family. Joy has had a disturbing premonition and fears the worse, while Nana Letty is being stalked by a California condor, a death omen, and is anxiously performing rituals in the apartment of the tragically lost Bridget and Kara Gordon in anticipation of some late night visits by family members from the other side of the veil.
It is said that the Wolf may howl at the Moon, but the Moon never howls at the Wolf. In the gritty urban streets of Los Angeles in 1975, Leticia Gordon is forced to come to terms with many things: the tragic death of her stepmother and baby sister in a car accident, fear she’ll wind up in foster care, and the sudden revelation she belongs to a long line of powerful witches known as Lunae – who exhibit first power at menarche (first menstruation). Running from foes natural and supernatural, will her newfound powers be the turning point that elevates her position of honor, or will it destroy her like the dark forces that consumed her father? In a world turned upside down where time itself seems in flux, in whom can she trust?

Dedication
When I first wrote The Moon Cried Blood
in 2011, and when I initially released it as a novel, I dedicated it to my parents, Robert and Carolyn Saulson, who have always been very supportive. Since then, my father has passed away. I lost him on January 3, 2013 after a five month long battle with liver cancer. My dad had successfully survived lung cancer just a year earlier, in 2012, and was on his six month wellness check for lung cancer when he was diagnosed with the liver cancer. It was unknown whether the liver cancer and lung cancer were related, but it was suspected that they were not. The liver cancer had already metastasized by the time they discovered it.
This is a photo of my father, on December 31, 2013, just days before he died. He is holding a signed copy of my first book, Solitude, which he used to keep by his bedside. This book is dedicated to my father, who introduced me to a life-long love of science-fiction and horror reading when I was even younger than Tisha, the protagonist of this story.
Robert Allen Saulson – July 2, 1942 through January 3, 2013.
This book is also dedicated to my mother, Carolyn Saulson, my brother, Scott Saulson, and my nieces, Franchesca and Elisabetta Saulson. My father believed in genetic memory, a concept that is referenced in The Moon Cried Blood: Bloodlines
and in Frank Herbert’s Dune,
one of the books my dad introduced me to that makes a guest appearance in this story. My dad believed that he lived on in his genetic progeny. As long as we are in the world, a part of him survives. He was loved and he will be missed.
Rooms of the Dead
is the third installment of a series called The Moon Cried Blood.
The Moon Cried Blood
was a novel of 550 pages and about 125,000 words in length. After some consideration, it was decided during the re-editing process that the book should be re-edited into shorter-length works consistent with the young adult fiction genre. The eBooks are being released in novella or novelette length installments of 15,000 to 17,000 words in length. There will be approximately eight eBook novellas, and the series will eventually be issued as series of two novels of approximately 75,000 words in length.
The novellas represent the third edition of the novel, and contain improvements in proofreading and certain editorial changes based upon reader feedback.
