missing image fileThe Daughters’ Keeper
A mother sits at home in her favorite room
Rocking in a chair knitting a sweater
As she gently threads the needle through
The yarn
She glances out the window.
Suddenly!
She finds herself taking a sentimental journey Through the past
Reflecting, relating
In addition, capturing moments in time.
As she thinks back to the day
Her daughter, Brandy went missing
Without a trace
She looks towards the bed at the pillows
She has rearranged
Moreover, fluffed time after time.
She continues to stare as she tries
To understand
Nevertheless, reaching out too so many
Mysterious wonders.
A single teardrop rolls down her face
Then the rain begins too pour
She struggles to compose herself
While reaching for a box of Kleenex
From the drawer.
Now this Mother has to prepare herself
For the storm.
It takes a very strong will to accept the
Unfair hand that fate deals to you
Without losing your mind
Without questioning God.
On the other hand, without being angry
With God
Without looking up towards Heaven
And shouting
My God Why Have Thou Forsaken Me
?
With fervent hope though exhausted
She has never lost her grasp of hope
Or faith.
Through echoes of the heart
Like an artist painting a canvas
She captures an image of her daughter in her mind
Slowly to the cross this mother climbs
Taking every step with love
Every step with grace.
Brandy is pretty as a picture
Footloose and fancy free
Her mother can see her clearly
Too the point that she reaches
Out to her with open arms
Yearning, however never touching her at all.

Dear Ms. Parent,
Some folks might say that you have
Run out of time
Other folks might say the cold case file
Is closed
Move on from the past
Your hope is just a dream.
However, I say to you my friend
Do not allow yourself to curl up
In the shadows of despair.
Folks can say or whisper what they may?
However, they cannot see
The bruises imbedded in your soul.
Nor can they feel the stitches in
