Cryptocurrency Investing - PROF. TYLER YAMAZAKI
Foreword
Thank you for purchasing Cryptocurrency Investing. Here, we will discuss everything that you need to know so that you can start investing in cryptocurrency. If you have no idea at all what is cryptocurrency, then you are in the right place. If you have some idea about it and would like to learn more because you think this is the ‘money of the future’, well you are in the right place as well because what you think is so very wrong. Forget about what it calls, cryptocurrency is NOT a direct substitute of money.
Cryptocurrency, an interesting subject. It is something that is still relatively new to some people. It is also something that is heavily discussed and lightly understood by a lot of financial ‘experts’. Believe me, these ‘experts’, they have no idea what they are talking about!
The playground is changing every day as new crypto coins are being introduced. You may have heard stories that someone became a millionaire overnight for trading cryptocurrency, mind you that is entirely possible, if you know what you are getting into. Cryptocurrency is like a stock; their value is going up and down, and you can freak out when the value of your coin changes drastically in one single day. If you have experience in stocks trading, then you are ready to see the prices vary for your cryptocurrency because they are going to be affected by what is going on around the world. There are micro and macro factors that will affect the pricing of a coin. You should not let that freak you out because that is just normal, which you will find out soon as you get deeper into trading cryptocurrency. Remember, for everything that is trading publicly, prices will change, with or without reasons.
There are plenty of books on this subject on the market, and they are growing every day, some even written by people who have no practical experiences in trading cryptocurrencies. I thank you again for choosing this one! Every effort was made to ensure that this book is filled with as much useful information as possible. I hope you enjoy the ride!
Chapter 1––––––––History Lesson
Before you can get into cryptocurrency, you have to know what cryptocurrency is. Cryptocurrency is considered a digital currency that uses cryptography to create money and verify transactions, well at least this is the definition you can find all over the internet. These transactions kept on a public ledger known as a transaction block chain, and new coins are being created through the mining process.
As of 2017, cryptocurrency is considered a decentralized alternative to fiat currencies, like the US dollar.
History
You can trace digital currency back to ‘Bit Gold’ created by Nick Szabo sometime between 1998 and 2005 but was never implemented. Even though ‘Bit Gold’ is considered the precursor to Bitcoin, cryptocurrency was pioneered by David Chaum's company called Digicash. Then, there was Wei Dai's b-money, as well as e-gold.
Knowing this, you will be able to look at the modern currency when it was started in 2008 by Satoshi Nakamoto, an anonymous person back then, upon realizing Bitcoin’s potential and how it can change digital currency.
Bitcoin became the very first decentralized digital coin in 2008. However, the currency did not go public until the year 2009.
Starting in 2018, Bitcoin became the most commonly used cryptocurrency. However, there are other existing coins such as Ethereum, Ripple, and Litecoin.
Because of Bitcoin’s popularity, the term Altcoin was created. The term refers to cryptocurrency other than Bitcoin.
Around January of 2015, there were around 500 different types of cryptocurrency on the market. However, there were only 10 of them with a market capitalization that was able to reach over $10 million.
As of September 2017, there were over 1,100 cryptocurrencies available whose market capitalization reached over 60 billion dollars! Moreover, at the end of that year, the market capitalization went up to $600 billion!
Not quite sure what this means? This just means that the future of cryptocurrency is highly uncertain but those values are proof that cryptocurrency is not going out of style anytime soon. Even in year 2018, the market continues to grow!
Types of Cryptocurrency
To date, there are over 1,000 different cryptocurrencies. However, only
