About this ebook
This is Early Access to my Black-American family drama series, Drucilla's Epiphany, and will only include chapters 1-5. The book hasn't been released yet and content is subject to change. This Early Access aims to get honest feedback and give readers a taste of the story. Books 1-3 are planned by August 2024, and the 4th book by the end of 2025.
---------------------------------
Mai Ann Kane, a Black-American woman, started the first American non-segregated chicken and waffles soul food restaurant, "Mai Ann's Chicken & Waffles," with her husband, Gregory Kane, in 1954 in the fictional black community-turned-city of Freemont, Georgia, during the Jim Crow era.
Book 1 begins in 2006 through the eyes of Mai Ann's estranged granddaughter, Drucilla Kane (nee Jackson), whom Mai Ann hasn't seen or spoken to in five years due to a major falling out following her late son's death. Drucilla is a stripper known by her stage name, Hipnotica, and is the Ringmaster [aka top-earner] at a strip club called Club Circus. Drucilla leaves San Gria, Nevada, and her life of luxury in determination to restore Mai Ann's house and restaurant to its former legacy in Everton, Texas.
Note: Everything, including all characters, places, and events, unless otherwise stated, is a work of fiction ruminated from the mind of Dr. Porsha White, DD. Read the real vs. fake section in the book to learn what is real and what is fictional. All real places and/or events were used in a fictional manner.

Non-Spoiler Q&A
Who is this book for?
Go-getters, entrepreneurs, and aspiring chefs.
Drucilla is a flawed woman who makes human mistakes. Her story is about having faith in God, confidence in herself, and learning that not everything in life is peaches and cream.
Is this based on your life or a true story?
Not at all. This is a fictional story. Drucilla is entirely different from me. We don’t think, look, or act anything alike.
But she and I share similarities: We’re both Black-American women who work and hustle for what we want. We’re both proud of our Blackness, with loving parents and a praying grandmother.
Are these real people and places?
The majority of the people, places, and events are fictional. Check the ‘Real vs Fake’ section for more details.
How did you come up with this story?
One day, I dreamt that I was a stripper. I felt that this idea was just too juicy to pass up, so the dream became the basis and inspiration for this series.
It was initially supposed to be a short story but flourished into an entire series. For a more detailed process, check the ‘Behind-the-scenes’ section.
Is this considered a Christian story?
No. There are themes of Christian-based faith and belief. However, due to the high sexual nature, sensitive topics, and censored profanity, I didn’t classify it as such.
Why is the book censored? Why not just put the actual words?
I’m a Christian woman, and I don’t say the censored words at all in my everyday life.
