photo of Robert C. Erickson

Robert C. Erickson, Jr. serves as the Deputy Inspector General for the U.S. General Services Administration. As such, he is the Senior Official Performing the Duties of the Inspector General, leading auditors, special agents, attorneys, and support staff who conduct nationwide audits, investigations, and inspections. He has served as Deputy Inspector General since 2007 and was the Acting Inspector General from April 2014 to August 2015 and from July 2023 to January 2024. Prior to becoming Deputy Inspector General, Mr. Erickson served as an Assistant United States Attorney at the Eastern District of Virginia for 15 years, where he prosecuted complex fraud, white collar, and money laundering crimes in federal court. 

Mr. Erickson also held several other positions in the U.S. Department of Justice including Deputy General Counsel in the U.S. Marshals Service, Assistant United States Attorney in the Civil Division at the Eastern District of Virginia, and Trial Attorney in the Constitutional Torts Section of the Civil Division. For his work on complex fraud cases, Mr. Erickson received two Director’s Awards from the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys.

Additionally, Mr. Erickson served as an active duty and reserve Judge Advocate officer in the United States Army for 33 years, retiring as a Colonel. He deployed in Operation Desert Storm/Desert Shield and served as Chief Prosecutor for the 22nd Support Command covering Iraq, Kuwait, and Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. After the September 11, 2001, attack on the Pentagon, he commanded a unit that provided legal services for victims and survivors of the attack. His awards for military service include the Bronze Star Medal and Legion of Merit. 

For exceptional achievements throughout his career, Mr. Erickson received a 2016 Presidential Rank Award.

Mr. Erickson received his J.D. with honors from the New England School of Law and graduated with a B.A. from the College of the Holy Cross.
