This exhibition features twenty photographs taken in and around the Institute Woods by Professor Vladimir Voevodsky from 2002–05. The images capture the remarkable range of insect, bird, animal, and plant life in the Woods, and offer a compelling view into the daily life of the Woods’ diverse inhabitants—from a fruitful moment in a heron’s day, to the camouflaged stance of a praying mantis.

Vladimir Voevodsky, a truly extraordinary and original mathematician who made remarkable advances in algebraic geometry, and whose most recent work concerned rewriting the foundations of mathematics to make them suitable for computer proof verification, died at age 51 on September 30, 2017, in Princeton, New Jersey. He was Professor in the School of Mathematics at the Institute, a position he held since 2002.
