Producers should really stop spending money to make awful movies. Use them for something useful, like helping your local homeless shelter, animal shelter. Go spend them on starving kids in poor countries. 90s CGI, shallow story, bad directing, bad acting.
An absolute garbage of a movie. A total waste of time.
Morgan Freeman will do anything to earn a few thousand bucks these days. Such a pitiful old man.
Avoid this film unless you're looking for a mindless, forgettable action flick. Even then, there are better options available. A lazy attempt at creating an action movie. It's a film that fails to impress on nearly every level.

This has to be one of the most lackadaisical films I have ever seen. The CGI seems like it was done on a flip phone or by a class of 1st graders. Not only do you have 1 parachute scene that is so poorly done that they decided to do 2 more parachute scenes. Some guy was like "that 1st parachute scene was so legit that we must have atleast 3 chute scenes". Any explosion scene was hilarious. They performed the scene and then again from another angle then again from another.
The music did not match the scenes. The acting was horrible, writing seemed like it was done while sitting on the toilet while taking CGI classes.
Morgan Freeman, wtf? I know he doesn't need the money that bad. Luke, just stop it man. You will always be thespian Thor. Nothing more, nothing less.

I honestly can't fathom how this managed to get 2 decent actors attached to it. The script is awful, the effects down right laughable and the majority of the acting terrible. The 10/10 reviews are a joke and nobody who has ever watched any kind of movie before would give this a 10. Being brutally honest I was hard pushed to give it a 1 and that's mainly (fully) down to 2 actors who should be nowhere near this. They should be looking for new representation.
I wouldn't waste your time watching this and if I had the ability to time travel I'd go back to the minute previous to deciding this sounded good and have a right strong word with myself.
Avoid.

Morgan Freeman went down the straight to streaming route a few years ago. While Luke Hemsworth is never going to reach the heights of his brothers.
Lee Gunner (Luke Hemsworth) is a former special forces soldier who goes on a camping trip to bond with his two sons.
Only to stumble into a drug farm operation run by Dobbs Ryker, who takes both of Lee's kids. In order to get them back Gunner breaks into a jail to get Dobb's father, Kendrick Ryker (Morgan Freeman) out to trade for them.
Gunner is a derivative action film with a bad script. It is awful with poor green screen, terrible stunts. Freeman's death scene and body double has to be seen to be believed.

Some are being way too critical of this movie. I first saw it via streaming on TV and thought everything was literraly too dark!! After seeing it on the big screen, I decided it deserved a positive review. I think it was just my TV. This was a very entertaining movie Yeah some of the CGI shots needed a little more investment, but it all worked. Also some of the actors were not great, but Morgan, Luke, Mykel and Grant were great and did their jobs!! Mykel is very talented and made a very handsome bad guy and talented actor. I don't see him in enough roles on the big screen!!! Hopefully, that will change!! The music had me tapping my feet!! Really good movie!!

The movie has a distinct 80's vibe that I really enjoyed. It was a treat to see both Morgan Freeman and one of the Hemsworth brothers in the film. The two sons in the movie were particularly enjoyable to watch, and I thought that Connor DeWolfe, who played the oldest son, delivered one of the strongest performances in the entire film! The villain Mykel Shannon Jenkins put in a strong performance. However, I do think that they should have put more effort into the CGI and music. Despite that, I felt that the overall premise of the movie was good. Hopefully, we get to see Connor and Mykel in more movies.

I was not even able to go 50mins in before I finally had to rage quit!
How invincible do you have to be that shots from assault rifles don't touch you (while you're unmoving target, and flashes of bullets wheezing past you)!
I thought it was just me until I saw other people's reviews!
The fight scenes were just senseless. So, I'd rather wait for you to fight with girls with knives, while I hold on to my gun and waiting my turn?
Many many things are just not it in this movie.
Then the continuity? Poor. I could count how many times someone went back to be blown into the air again after an explosion
This was so bad I had to create an account to drop a review.
Not. Worth. Your. Time!

The names Hemsworth and Freeman got my attention. Then the Prime Video score suggested it was worth a try. However, 10 minutes into it I realized I was tricked. This movie is just awful. No kidding. It's bad! The fighting scenes are about a five out of ten. The rest was just bad acting and off-sync sound effects. They threw in a nude bar scene to try and spice things up. The closing song was Amazing Grace. Can you believe it? So much of this movie was bad a script. Everything was so contrived. The Young boys acting was the best part of the performance. Hemsworth had the right look, but he just lost it with all the bad Fight choreography.

I was looking at the reviews debating if I should watch this and I thought surely it can be as bad as all these one to three star reviews say it is. It actually intrigued me even more to watch it. And Morgan Freeman is there how bad can it really be? Spoiler: don't make the same mistake I made, the bad reviews are spot on.
The entire time watching this I was thinking this could have been a perfectly average action flick. The god awful CGI is the main factor that completely tackles this film from being acceptable to being ridiculous. I haven't seen CGI this bad in 20 years, and the fact it has Freeman and one of the Hemsworth brothers in it makes me believe they had enough of a budget to have decent CGI.
Second thing is the soundtrack. The songs seem so random and not aligned with the scenes at all. The first fighting scene in the forest has this jolly jazz track over it and at the scene in the stripclub they play this sweet innocent lovesong that seems more in place in a teenage Disney show. I was waiting for them to play 'Call me Maybe' at the end scene.
I would give 1 star but the bad CGI and random soundtrack were so laughable that in the end it did entertain me, for all the wrong reasons but still.

Please just don't waste your time. Everyone with 10/10 scoring, shame on you. Good CGI, good storyline, any realness you cannot find in this movie. Next time send the budget to people in need, and spare us the misery of watching such a hollow and uninspired attempt at filmmaking. The plot is predictable, the characters are shallow, and the dialogue is cringeworthy. It's clear that the focus was on visual effects rather than substance, and even that is just absurdity.
This is a prime example of style over substance, leaving the audience with nothing but a forgettable experience. Save your time and money for something worthwhile.

This film is a complete disaster on all technical fronts. The visual effects are abysmal, with CGI so poor it feels like a low-budget game from the '90s. The sound effects are no better, poorly synchronized and completely out of place in most scenes. As for the soundtrack, it's so forgettable that it feels like no effort or creativity was put into it at all. Overall, it's a frustrating experience that's not worth your time.
This film not only lacks any redeeming qualities but also fails to engage on even a basic level. The plot is weak and filled with clichés, making it predictable and boring. The acting is wooden and unconvincing, adding to the overall disappointment. With nothing to offer in terms of entertainment or artistic value, it's a film that's best avoided. Even if you're a fan of the genre, you'll find little to enjoy here. It's a waste of time from start to finish.

This movie just came out but it deserves more attention. I love both Luke Hemsworth and Morgan Freeman and they were amazing in this movie. Everyone in this film did an outstanding job in their role. The makers of this film did an outstanding job as well. I might go see it again next week if I have the time. I've also told all of my friends that they need to go see this because it will be their favorite action movie too. I'm an avid movie watcher and this easily beats the other action movies I've seen. Tell your friends, family, co-workers, everyone to go watch this movie because it deserves so much more attention!

Like someone commented earlier, this movie is not only poorly put together, but it lacks any of the redeeming qualities that would make it an erstwhile viewing on a cold rainy night when there's nothing else to see. I tried watching the movie twice but both times gave up before I got halfway. I don't know how Morgan Freeman got roped into this fiasco but it's not how I thought his career would go. If you are looking for some soldier-come-home action, this is probably not going to do it for you because the acting, the action sequences, and the dialogue are set at a level so low that it ends up being irritating.
This movie is just plain out terrible. Luke is okay guy,, Morgan sameway. But the cgi and effects on this oh lawd!
TERRIBLE!
At some point it just looks stupid. It doesn't take a high IQ to notice some of the bad stunts. Some don't make sense. Y'all could've spent more on edits and after effects instead of high end actors for a low end script.
The background music and sounds is another thing. It's edited like a movie off 1980's.
Whoever made this shouldn't be allocated funds to create such an eye sore. And whoever edited it c'mon man or woman you gotta go back to editing school or whatever you call it.

I considered battlefield earth the worst movie to have good actors in it, but this one is the new king!
Terrible acting. It was obvious that they used non-actors where they could. The writing reminded me of a 80's jean Claude Vandamme or Steven seagal movie, but the worst thing was the special effects!
The parachute scenes are laughable at best, the muzzle flashes look like a cartoon, and apparently no one on the staff Knows anything about firearms since the bad guys are shooting all tracer rounds, and glocks don't go "click" when they are out of ammo!
As a resident of Birmingham, I'm embarrassed that this movie was filmed here.
I tried to give it no stars, but it won't let me.

I came to watch this on its premier date. I watched the trailer and absolutely could not wait to see it. I even brought my parents and sister. As soon as the movie was over, my sister turned to me and said she saw why I was so adamant to see this movie. I could tell my parents loved it too. My sister could not stop talking about how good the plot was. Needless to say, this is her new favorite movie too. I'm not big on action movies, I've enjoyed a few here and there but Gunner is definitely at the top of my list. The story was beautifully written and they did a great job bringing this story to life.

Whoever responsible for this movie should be banned from the industry. This should be illegal. Morgan Freeman come on you're better than this after this movie you're no longer one of my favourites. Also, Kirk and Thor's brother don't even know what other movie you're from but you're still too good for this lol. Whoever responsible for this movie should be banned from the industry. Gunner blew my mind! So well written, and the plotted thickened at just the right points. The pacing on this film was done so well, it kept me thoroughly engaged throughout its entirety. Not only the plot, but the actors as well. Their lines were written and delivered with the perfect intensity, and it kept everyone in the theater wanting more. If you haven't already seen Gunner, I would buy your tickets right now. Everything about this movie was beautifully done, and I don't say that about many films. I've seen a couple films by Dimitri Logothetis, but this is by far my favorite. Exceeds all expectations I put on it- such a good watch.

Reposting because this clown filmmaker Dimitri Logothetis uses all his bogus 10/10 review accounts to report ALL the honest low reviews and they got deleted! Luckily he has no control over the overly generous current 3.2/10 average rating lol. How pathetic is this filmmaker trying to trick viewers into seeing this trash.
So to all you honest reviewers, keep checking back to make sure your review is still up, and keep down-voting his laughably bogus high reviews.
Original review: If you can think of the worst film you've ever seen, this one is much more worse that that. Literally, a fifth grade drama class with 1980's A/V/FX equipment can do way better than this nonsense.
How can producer, writer and director Dimitri Logothetis with over 40 combined filmmaking credits to his name, come up with such constant nonsense - it's mind boggling. You're supposed to get better with each film, not worse. There is absolutely zero redeeming qualities in this mess, and I feel bad for Hemsworth and Freeman having their names attached to this amateur-hour production. My 10 year old can create better special effects with the free apps on his phone.
What's even more insulting, are all the clearly bogus high reviews Logothetis' paid for trying to trick people into watching this trash. It's speaks volumes when even he doesn't have faith in his own film to resort to such blatant tactics. He should've taken that money he paid and put it towards going film school.
It's a generous 1/10, all going to Hemsworth and Freeman out of pity... I just hope the pay they got was worth it.
