Finally an original African based high school drama series! I was pleasantly surprised by this and watched the whole thing all at once. I was impressed that we saw many aspects of South African culture in regards to the dialects, music, political affairs etc
The series itself is easy to enjoy, there were definitely aspects where you're shouting at the TV but it's all in gest. Can't wait for season 2!
The mystery of the story is still intriguing even though we know where it is going. This is a satisfactory series and brings out the Cape Town/SA's culture. It is worth watching.
I really enjoyed this show and I loved the fact the show is from South Africa and almost all the actors are people of color (not sure if this is ok to say in regards to a South African show, but I simply don't know better).
I liked seeing some aspects of the South African culture/realities even though I have no idea whether the representation was correct.
I really like the actors and in my view casting did a great job.
It's an exciting premise and the show is well made! I can't wait for the next season!
I found some amazing musing through this show - great soundtrack!

First season was a bit messy, but I feel like season 2 pulled everything together. The acting wasn't the best in the first season (not bad, but it could have been better), although I could see some great improvements in the seasons after that. I would have loved some more character development for a few characters, but what I loved most about this show was the pacing and the suspense. There was always something exciting and surprising around the corner. Most of the episodes ended on plot twists, leaving you wanting to see more. I also liked the fact that all of the seasons were quite strong, none of them empowering the other.
Okay, if you remove the soap opera element from this show, (which btw I believe just stretches the show out) Blood & water is a well-shot drama that follows the compelling story of a teenage girl in search of her lost sister. A pretty predictable story nonetheless, the high production value and beautiful cinematography make the show quite bearable to watch. I didn't think I would get hooked but I did. Just six episodes you could binge-watch with friends while trying to relax.

I don't know how the rating on this is so low. Most of the reviews rate it high. It was a really entertaining series. Yes, it involved high school students, but that doesn't mean that it can't be good. I ended up binge watching every episode because I had to see what happened. It ended pretty decent. But, now we just have to wait for Season 2. Please!

I'm usually not a fan of the high school character based series but Blood and Water is so good!. I love the mystery of the storyline, the setting in South Africa, the diversity of the cast and the music is great as well.

I mainlined this series because I simply had to know what was happening next. I'd have given it ten * if the ending had been more satisfactory.
It's compelling TV. The characters are believable and the cast really good. The writing is well-crafted and I was enthralled.
It has soap opera qualities, but at a high level. Sure, parts of it were a tad cliched, but the story and developing mystery make up for that.
I enjoyed it thoroughly, though I'd be lying if I said the ending was completely satisfactory. I look forward to a second season.

Watched it in one sitting, with the exception of bathroom breaks. However, I was highly dissapointed in the end. I felt as though the ending was less of an ending & more of a cliffhanger. Hence why I'm now in the process of writing my own script for a final ending of my liking 🤣. I just didn't have closure, like some of us might need counselling. A confrontation for an ending? The writer/s could have done better. No distinct villain or hero/in. There better be a season 2!

Plenty of beautiful and handsome young people hanging out around swimming pools. Finally, according to Netflix, the identity, issues, disputes and loves of wealthy teens have been globalised, standardised and commodified. This is S. Africa, but you wouldn't know it. It could easily be the wealthy 'burbs of the US, Australia, India, Singapore, or Korea. Reality replaced by the synthetic.

I started this show at midnight last night and somehow I've binged the whole season in a day! This was a really good show and a good mystery. I was so proud to see high quality content coming from South Africa and seeing a lifestyle in Africa that bucks the typical perception we get shown of Africa in America. Good show!

Honestly, whoever was responsible for shooting the series did a GREAT job. However, the stroryline is predictable and the acting is horrible. Watch it if you want to waste time, but don't expect to get thoroughly entertained.

Bad acting, good representation of black people and African culture though. Also good storyline. But the main caracters acting puts the whole series down.

I couldn't make it through E2. The acting and "character development" - or rather lack thereof, was so cringeworthy, I had 2nd hand embarrassment for the cast. I realise that as a locally made production, budget was obviously quite tight, and it shows, oh boy does it show, in every single department. A pity, because this production had some top notch crew working on it. But it seems perhaps the money was not going into cast or crew. A measly 1/10

Not understanding why some gave it a very low rating other than they didn't bother watching the entire season. I actually enjoyed it. Great acting as well. Really hoping there will be a Season 2 sooner than later.
Filmimg and the story is very good. Filming quality and sound effects spot on. I could not give 10 stars because of the extreme explicit language and extreme sexual insinuations. Cannot watch with family. I suggest toning down a bit.
Everything else, well done.

I saw the previews and actually had zero interest in watching this, but just after midnight I was looking for something to watch and gave it a shot. Six hours later I'm watching the last episode, more because of the story than the acting, but it must have some potential if I sat through all six episodes.

I feel this show was a little slow at first, but once you get into it, it was pretty addictive. I expected more from this show considering the director involved, but it still surpassed my expections. I do hope for a season 2 after that ending.

Although cinematography wise it's really nice, that isn't what makes a show great. It's the characters, the conflict, storyline, acting, editing and so forth. Personally, I was intrigued to see a teen mystery show not about murder; the "missing sister" plot reallyseemed cool.
As regards to the show itself, I admit sometimes I did get frustrated with the storyline, specifically the subplots. Not that they were bad, they were decent but could have been even better integrated with the main plot. Plus, at times I really couldn't relate to certain decisions taken by the main character, especially since they were not the anti-hero type (meaning we are supposed to root for her). Overall however, the acting wasn't bad and I don't believe that it was slow at times. Quite the contrary, I think more time should have been taken to deeply explore certain character's feelings and existing relationships (so the audience canecan more).
On the whole this series is worth watching, and going along the journey to find the sister is THRILLING. With a few minor adjustments and maybe more focus on the sister for a more edgier vibe it would definitely be a 9.5/10! I still binged the series, enjoyed and appreciated it despite my remarks. I'm just a bit picky since this isn't my typical genre. I would also like to point out that it is a refreshing perspective of an African country, something as multiple people commented on the show being to Western. I guess they are surprised that there are people in SA who are not poor or sick.
Anyways, happy bingeing 🙂🙂
