In case you didn’t know, approximately 6.5 million pets enter U.S. animal shelters each year according to the research done by ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). By adopting a cat, versus purchasing one from a retail store or a breeder, you allow for an additional opening at an animal shelter for another pet to be adopted, thus saving 2 lives. Owning a cat can be a rewarding experience. As any veteran cat owner will tell you however, it can also be something of a challenge. Your daily life is basically determined by whatever mood your cat is in. Sometimes it likes tickles. Sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it likes curtains. Sometimes it doesn't.
