Large cement planters make for great, modern outdoor style. However, as a DIY option, they take a lot of cement, and building the forms is no small task. When I saw these smaller, solid cinder blocks available at Menards for only $1.09, I decided to give this simple technique a shot. We're thrilled with the results. Kim Woodward | DIY & Home on Instagram: "Check out these easy to build faux cement planters 🌺. I love the look of cement planters but they are crazy expensive so I built my own. I already had the wood boxes from another project so decided to spruce them up with cement board and cement covering. After it dries I gave it a light sand. I didn’t want it too rough or too smooth just textured enough. I did also spray some waterproof cement sealer too for added protection. I have 5 more wooden boxes left and will be transforming them all with this method. ❤️Live how they turned out. 🌺🌺🌺🌺. #planter #planterbox #diyhousetohome #concreteplanter #concreteplanters #diygarden #landscapeinspiration #landscaping #flowers" Cheap Planter Ideas Diy, Concrete Planter Ideas Outdoor, Concrete Planters Front Porch, Potted Flower Bed, Cement Planter Boxes, Diy Stucco Planter, Diy Rectangular Planter Boxes, Diy Cinder Block Planter, Easy Diy Planter Boxes

It’s quite overwhelming. We went with the 2-system method, which is comprised of a scratch and brown coat in a bag ready to go and your final finish either in a bag or in a bucket. If I had to do the garden beds all over again, I would have gone with the traditional coat system all the way. I did use the traditional method with La Habra Scratch & Brown coat, but I should have also used their smooth finish.
