Exercise is absolutely the best long term solution and can make ALL the difference….but…..it takes some time. 

This is a trick that I started using decades ago when I working at a hospital based outpatient clinic here in Chicago where most of our patients were very limited financially and we always was to get creative with as many DIY options as possible. 

Tips

✅The scarf/strap should be used to help guide the shoulder blades backwards (retract) and as a bonus the scarf will cradle the head of the humerus to prevent shoulder subluxation in the forward direction (anterior)

✅do NOT pull so tight that it pinches, or causes numbness/tingling/coldness in your hands. A winged scapula occurs when the shoulder blades float away into the shoulder socket from the spine.  It results from the weakness of shoulder blade stabilizers. Serratus Anterior also referred to as the punching muscle is usually the most affected. By strengthening your serratus, you will be reducing your winged shoulder blades. Here are a few ways that you can start building shoulder stability. Try adding a few of these to your weekly strength training routine!

These are tough, so I would start with 2-3 sets of 5 and gradually increase the reps as you get stronger.
