The End Of An Era

I am terrible at
Saying goodbyes,
Because I can't hide my teary eyes,
And longing smile

As I reach out
And caress your face
I'm sorry that I will have to actually say
Goodbye, forever,
Or not for long
Nobody really knows, for sure;

Because the journey of life is a long one,
On winding paths and rickety bridges.
I'm still walking, now running, chasing after that feeling
Of completion,
Of success,
That I can never quite seem to find,

And I've left you behind,
Forgotten my past;
I wonder if it's really too late to turn back
Rewind the clock, go back a year
Forget myself, forget my fear
And get lost in the days,
until they all fade away

with a fuzzy haze,
a distant dream
like before.
