    Questions to consider include: What are some differences between art and
    craft? Is art more important than craft? Is craft more feminine than art? Can
    art be as useful as craft is? Do good artists also need to be good craftspeople? Is making craft more difficult than making art?

    My view is that artists


    should be talking about art.
    I think talking about what
    we do as artists is like
    learning a language - the
    language of signs and how
    they resonate in us. The
    question should always be what are we looking at?

    The creation of artworks is an important part of Cambodias
    culture, but there are limited resources and venues talking
    about, writing and studying those artworks.
    Through monthly discussion meetings and a website - in both
    Khmer and English - arts + society provides a place for
    Cambodian artists, students, writers and thinkers to talk, write
    and learn about art. If youre interested, then you are welcome:
    arts + society is not just for experts.

    arts + society organisers are interested in hearing what topics or issues you
    would like to think, talk and learn about. Future topics will be decided by
    you, and the other participant at the discussion. Possibilities include: arts
    + beauty, arts + the Art Market, arts + development, arts + politics, arts +
    tradition and originality, arts + buddhism. Bring along your ideas to the first
    discussion, or post them on the website.
