of Quadrilaterals and Their Properties Submitted by: Percival Byron S. Bueser Submitted to: Dr. Ma. Corazon B. Sigua General Objective Recognize different types of special quadrilaterals and their properties. Specific Objectives 1. Define quadrilateral, parallelogram, rectangle, rhombus, square, and trapezoid. 2. Explain the properties unique to each special type of quadrilateral. 3. Define consecutive sides, consecutive angles, opposite sides, opposite angles, and diagonal. References: Mercado, J. & Suzara, J. (2008) Geometry (2nd ed.). Opening Activities Teachers Activities Students Activities Teacher instructs students to take Students sit down. their seats. Students typically answer None if Teacher asks students Is everybody there are no absences. If there are present here? absent students or late students, the present students will say the names of the students not in the class. Teacher records names of absent or Students verify. late students, then asks students for verification. (If there are absent students, teacher follows with Okay, please remind your absent classmates the lessons discussed today.
Motivation Teacher asks students regarding the types of quadrilaterals that they know already, then asks them to elaborate a bit. Then the teacher points out the need for precise definition, which will be the starting point of the lesson. B. Developmental Activities: 1. Lecture
Students answer.
Quadrilateral a polygon with four sides Parallelogram a quadrilateral in which both pairs of opposite sides are parallel Rectangle a parallelogram with four right angles Rhombus a parallelogram with four congruent sides Square a rectangle with four congruent sides Trapezoid a quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel sides C. Closing Activity Generalization/Summary:
Valuing: Knowing the different types of quadrilaterals helps confusion when talking about them. Also, in mathematics, precise definition is a virtue. Moreover, precise definition helps us to be not taken by mere appearances (e.g. just because a figure looks like a parallelogram doesnt mean it actually is). Applications: Evaluation: Assignment
