    Course Title: Computer Fundamentals and PC Software Course Code: PGDCA-01 Year: 2011-12 Maximum Marks: 40

    Section A Section A contains 08 short answer type questions of 5 marks each. Learners are required to answers 4 questions only. Answers of short answer-type questions must be restricted to 250 words approximately. 1. Write a detail note about ever expanding domains of Computer applications and Trends. 2. (a) Describe the functions of cache memory and its importance.
    (b) What are the main objectives of the process-management module of the operating system?

    3. (a) Differentiate between Static RAM and Dynamic RAM. (b) Discuss the functions of Bus in a computer system. 4. Explain following with suitable example: a. Batch processing operating system b. Time sharing operating system. c. Real time operating system. 5. (a) Discuss network operating system. How is it different from the distributive operating system? (b) Differentiate between Internal and External commands. Write purpose of following commands with appropriate example: TYPE, PROMPT, DISKCOPY, MEM 6. Discuss the features of Windows OS. 7. (a) Discuss file protection in Linux. (b) Discuss open source software.

Discuss features of a popular word processor. 2. Create a well formatted Word document of your Bio-data with your photograph for sending an application for the Software engineers job. 3. Explain the following terms used in Excel with a suitable example: a. Filter b. Macro c. Conditional formatting d. Chart e. Pivot table 4. Create a PowerPoint presentation about yourself with at least five slides with proper animation and transition effects.
