This may have been caused by the new nature of the concept of informational writing. The students were first introduced to informational writing the week prior to this unit. This the first opportunity to use informational writing in a content area. 10/15 or 67% of students Many students forgot to use at were marked down on least 3 complete sentences in Q12(Writing). their paragraph.
We will spend time reviewing and practicing informational writing whole class. Students still struggling to meet proficiency will continue to work in a small group and receive additional support.
This student was sick and missed part of the material covered in the unit.
We will spend time reviewing the guidelines for writing paragraphs as a class. Then students who were marked down on their writing will practice using the guidelines for writing paragraphs to re-write their glacier paragraphs. Student 3 will receive remedial work and assistance to review any material missed. The student will be permitted to retake the unit test after completing a review and the higher grade will recorded. Students who achieved above proficiency (over 80%) will be provided supplementary extension activities. Students will complete extension activities, which will use higherordered thinking, individually or with a partner.
Most of these students are higher achieving students. They may need to be challenged at a higher level.
