    Reflective Analysis of Portfolio Artifact Rationale/Reflection NAEYC Standard:

    STANDARD 6. BECOMING A PROFESSIONAL Candidates prepared in early childhood degree programs identify and conduct themselves as members of the early childhood profession. They know and use ethical guidelines and other professional standards related to early childhood practice. They are continuous, collaborative learners who demonstrate knowledgeable, reflective and critical perspectives on their work, making informed decisions that integrate knowledge from variety of source. They are informed advocates for sound educational practices and policies. (NAEYC, 2011)

    Brief Description of Evidence:


    In a fall semester, in ECED 210 Early Childhood Administration, a small group including myself designed a licensed center layout, budgets, policies, and procedures. This includes created handbooks for enrollment, parents, and staff. These handbooks included important documents such as medical records, child assessment, and staff trainings

    Analysis of What I Learned:


    While working all semester on this project, I learned there is an abundance of work and heart that must go into a center. I learned it takes more than teachers and children to make a successful center; it takes professionalism and teamwork. There are many guidelines and regulations that must be met aside from the teaching standards that are in classrooms.

    How This Artifact Demonstrates my Competence on the NAEYC Standard:


    Through this assignment I have more knowledge what it takes to be a professional and have a successful licensed center. It takes having the knowledge of ethical guidelines, continuous and collaborative staff that works as a team. A professional must make informed decisions but also reflect. Having completed this assignment, I can advocate and conduct for educational practices and policies with other members of the early childhood profession.
