use to teach this
class. Jeremy F. Davis

Jeremy Davis 6/14/14 First film choice. Forest Gump If I were to chose the movies for this film and culture class the movie Forest Gump would be one of the movies I would have everyone watch and discuss. I love this move and believe everyone should have to watch this move or really could use the life lessons taught in this movie. Forest Gump came out in the United States on July, 6 1994 it is a romantic, drama filled with comedy and lots of life lessons and serious life subjects. Forest Gump was based on a book that came out in 1986 it had the same name and was wrote by Winston Groom. There were major stars that played in this film including Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Gary Sinise and Sally Field. The story line of this movie is interesting to watch and everyone seems to have their own opinion of the lessons and meaning of the different events that occur in forests life. It starts out with forest Gump as a young boy having to wear leg braces. That made him the center of attention and got him picked on by many of the kids throughout his school years. When he starts school and gets on the bus for the first time he ends up meeting the love of his life. She is the only kid on the bus and in his school years that is nice to him. Later on he is able to break out of his leg braces and run, he ends up being the best at many things even though he is very slow and innocently naive. Somehow he is a part of many historical events during that time frame and touches many lives. He meets 3 different presidents. He is sent to Vietnam and saves his lieutenant life in the war. Jenny goes through a self destructing phase where she ends up addicted to drugs. Forest meets up with her and finds out he is a father to her son, he marries the love of his life and she dies of Aids. The movie ends with him sending his son off to school on the same bus at the same spot his mother sent him to school on.
Second Choice South Park; Bigger, Louder & Uncut I picked South Park the movie bigger, louder & uncut as my second most important movie that I would show and discuss in this class because it pushes every bad word & taboo subject to the limit. This movie is a perfect example of going the distance. I dont think I have seen any animated film in theaters this vulgar & rude. The writers that worked together on this film and the many little shows that came before it are Trey Parke and Matt Stone, reading some back ground info for this paper I discovered how hard they had to work to keep the film as it was before it was shown in theaters. Also in every country this film would come out in there was a huge amount of underage fans that were caught trying to sneak in to watch this film. That sounds funny because that is really how the beginning of this movie is stated. The 3 boys Kenny, Kyle, and Eric go to the movies to watch a film that they are not old enough to watch so they end up paying for a bum to buy them tickets and sit through the film (asses of fire) with them. The boys love there favorite Canadian comedy duo Terrance and Phillip. The boys pick up lots of bad words and phrases from the film Uncle Fucka, and then they go around and make all the other kids want to see the movie. The parents are fed up. One mom in particular Kyles mom Sheila she wants to blame all the issues there kids are having on Terrance and Phillip. She goes out of her way to get all the parents into this big war, causing satin to arise and rule the earth. Satin rising from hall is a way of representing the apocalypse. This film goes so far as to have satin and saddam being lovers. The reason I feel like this film is worth watching and discussing is just the bold, crude, and crazy stuff that someone would come up with and actually be able to show the world legally. It is a perfect example of freedom of speech and in many of the rating factors the main thing people were having a problem with was the swearing. The vulgar them and the violence was not a problem. I guess to me that is just strange. Many people thought this movie was funny and used its bold jokes, and ruthlessness to make it popular, there was tons of debates and controversy over this and I believe pushing censorship is the most entertaining thing about the film. Third Film Godfather This movie makes my top 5 films because of the true stories it resembles and how the mob had had a huge part in our society. Without us even knowing. The godfather was released in 1972 the story is through the times of 1945-1955 and it was based on a book The Godfather. This story is about the mob and the film gives the audience the perspective and insight into mob life not from the outside looking in but the view of the families and the gangster life inside the mob. After this film came out the real life gangsters responses to the film were very positive. They said as crazy as the movie was that was there life back then and really even took personal looks at themselves in the film. According to Anthony fiato after seeing the film, patriarca crime family members Paulie Intiso and Nicky Giso ended up changing the way they spoke. Intiso would swear and had a habit of using poor grammar, but after watching the movie he stated to articulate and really think about what he was saying. Four Film New Jack City This movie shows what the city life was like young black teens and adults and how becoming a PIMP and drug pusher what became every young intercity kids dream this movie shows the life of a junkie and everyday drug use from pimping them self to the drug dealer with sex, letting the dealer use the house as a crack house all to get hi, they get real close to real life in this movie all of the storey told in this movie was from a under cover cop who was at the top of it all know that he was a cop that could do nothing to help the addicks with their drug addictions Film Five Colors This movie about how the biggest Mexican gang in LA came fourth this movie about a white boy growing up in a city of Mexican youth and how they took him in and he became the leader thought the steps that lead him in and out of prison were he started the gang named V.L.T this gang is still one of the largest gang in LA today they still run most of the drug and guns in east LA this movie show how much bigger this Hispanic gang is three time bigger then the blood and crip in all of californa making this movie a most watch in the class the history on street gangs are storeys we need to see today
