Malaysia Airlines (MAS) is facing staffing challenges after 200 crew members resigned following two plane tragedies. The resignations were due to family pressure and fear of flying. Currently, MAS has around 3,000 cabin crew members, down from previous levels. Crew members are working long hours due to understaffing. MAS is taking steps to rebuild confidence by providing counseling support and adjusting work schedules, but recruitment has been slow as many existing crew are opting for early retirement.

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) is going through some difficult times after some 200 crew members who are mostly female have resigned after experiencing the double airline tragedies involving MH17 and MH370. According to Malaysia Airlines System Employees Union (Maseu) secretary-general Abdul Malek Ariff, they were down to only about 3,000 cabin crew members currently. Following the MH17 incident, there was a spike in crew resignations, but the number has now decreased to routinely expected levels. One of the reasons cited for leaving was family pressure apart from developing fear of flying. In current situation, many of the staff have to work up to 12 hours daily eight hours compulsory and four hours overtime. Recruitment for new staff has been very slow and it has to depend on its existing crew to keep flying. Many of the crew members have opted for early retirement which is an alternative offered under the Collective Agreement. However, due to the acute shortage of crew members, the management has rejected such applications. MAS is working hard to rebuild confidence and hopes that it can encourage the entry of more new staff. Medical centres have been set up to provide treatment plus engaging Mercy Malaysia to provide emotional support to all its crew members. In addition, special prayers have been organised as spiritual support for staff. Furthermore, work schedules for all crew members are planned within the confines of the regulations and the legal flight time limitations. Adapted from The Edge Financial Daily

Cyberbullying is the act of tormenting someone online by sending or posting nasty messages using electronic technology. It can be devices and equipment such as cell phones, computers, and tablets as well as communication tools including social media sites, text messages, chat, and websites. Sending mean text messages or emails, rumours sent by email or posted on social networking sites, and embarrassing pictures, videos, websites, or fake profiles can be considered as a form of Cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is different from the common physical or verbal type of bullying. Kids who are being cyberbullied are often bullied in person as well. Furthermore, kids who are cyberbullied have a harder time getting away from the behaviour. It can happen 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and reach a kid even when he or she is alone. It can happen any time of the day or night and messages and images can be posted anonymously and distributed quickly to a very wide audience. It can be difficult and sometimes impossible to trace the source. Deleting inappropriate or harassing messages, texts, and pictures is extremely difficult after they have been posted or sent. Cyberbullying has damaging effects on kids such as skipping school, using alcohol and drugs, drop in their school grades, having low self-esteem and health problems. Electronic gadgets such as cell phones and computers themselves are not to blame for cyberbullying. Social media sites like Facebook and Twitter can be used for positive activities, like connecting kids with friends and family, helping students with school, and for entertainment. But these tools can also be used to hurt other people. Adapted from Stopbullying.gov

The giant panda has a black-and-white coat. The giant panda has a body shape typical of bears. It has black fur on its ears, eye patches, muzzle, legs, arms and shoulders. The giant panda's thick, woolly coat keeps it warm in the cool forests of its habitat. The giant panda typically lives around 20 years in the wild and up to 30 years in captivity. The oldest captive, a female named Ming Ming, had a recorded age of 34. In the wild, the giant panda is a terrestrial animal and primarily spends its life roaming and feeding in the bamboo forests of the Qinling Mountains and in the hilly Sichuan Province. Giant pandas are generally solitary. Pandas communicate through vocalization and scent marking such as clawing trees or spraying urine. Though it belongs to the order Carnivora, the panda's diet is over 99% bamboo.
The average giant panda eats as much as 9 to 14 kg (20 to 30 lb) of bamboo shoots a day. Pandas eat any of 25 bamboo species in the wild, such as Fargesia dracocephala
and Fargesia rufa. Bamboo leaves contain the highest protein levels; stems have less. The giant panda must have at least two different species available in its range to avoid starvation. The giant panda is an endangered species, threatened by continued habitat loss and by a very low birth rate, both in the wild and in captivity. The giant panda has been a target of poaching by locals since ancient times and by foreigners since it was introduced to the West.

Fast food is fast becoming a staple food for many Malaysians especially among many young adults and children. Rising number of Malaysians are experiencing highly time- constrained lifestyles with limited time for dining. Besides, fast food is popular with consumers because it is more affordable as compared to foods and drinks offered by chained full-service restaurants, in particular. Fast delivery services and drive-through facilities make it very convenient for take away food for many on their way to work, during lunch or even on the way home from work. Research shows fast foods contain lots of calories, sugar, sodium and unhealthy fats -- substances that increase your risk of obesity, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease. Increased health risks are directly associated with increased consumption of fast foods. Many individuals in are becoming obese. Another result of fast food culture is the loss of the family tradition of eating together. Children and adults rarely eat together now, and thus get less opportunity to talk. Undoubtedly, it is convenient and cheap, but as parents and educators it is important to set examples for children to emulate. Parents and educators can be more involved in increasing awareness regarding the negative effects of fast foods and discourage children from consuming them. Parents can influence their childrens eating habits through the types of foods they buy for themselves and their family. The snacks they serve for breakfast, lunch and dinner also can help to develop a childs eating habit.
