How to form the present simple
Positive statements
Important: Note the -s in the 3rd person singular!
E.g. he eats .., she works .., my mother likes ..

Singular Plural
1st person
I don't play .. we don't play ..
2nd person
you don't play .. you don't play ..
3rd person
he/she/it doesn't
play ..
they don't play ..
Negative statements
Important: Note the doesnt in the 3rd person singular!
E.g. he doesnt eat, she doesnt work ..,
my mother doesnt like

Questions
Important: Note the does in the 3rd person
singular!
E.g. Does he eat ., does it snow .,
does your mother like ..,
Verbs that end in -ch, -sh, -ss - add an -
es in the 3rd person singular form:
watch > he watches brush > he brushes
kiss > she kisses

Example: He watches television every day
Does he watch television every day?
He doesnt watch television every day.




The 3rd person singular spellings
of the verbs that end: -consonant - y:

carry > she carries try > he tries
study > she studies

Verbs that end: -vowel-y do not
change like
this:
play > he plays say > she says
