Logos
Description: Logo project for the business Simply You Prints
Process: For this project I used Adobe Illustrator.
Date: November 1, 2014
Course: Communications 130
Instructor: Ben Pingel
Objectives:Use Illutrator to create different logos.
Process: I used the FOCUS process as I started to work on my Logo Project. After
formulating a plan and identifying my message and audience. I started to think about the three
different logo options. I wanted the first one to be just a text logo. Something simply and fun.
I think that the use of the script font plays into my audience and is still easily read. I wanted the
Simply You part to stand out from the prints part so I used contrasting fonts and colors to
create that effect.
For the second one I drew two circles one inside the other and didnt put a fill for the inner. Then
I added an opacity mask to add the paper texture to the circles. Then I found a playful but easily
read font to make it fun. I added the text under the title to balance it out but also to give more
information about what this business does. For the third logo I found a shape that I liked on the
internet and traced it using the pen tool.
Then I copied it and pasted in from of the first shape and scaled it down slightly. Then I played
with the stroke until I created the stitched look I was going for. I used another cute font, because
that what I want my audience to think when they see it, and contrasted it with a sans serif
font and as well as a contrasting color. I unified the elements in each logo by repeating pops
of color. The fifth and final step was to simplify the design. My design went through multiple
critiques that helped me see what areas needed to be looked at to create a solid design for each
logo.

Description: Business Card for Blue Bird Bakery
Process: For this project I used Adobe Indesign and Illustrator.
Date: November 8, 2014
Course: Communications 130
Instructor: Ben Pingel
Objectives: To use Illustrator and Indesign together.
Process: I used the FOCUS process as I started to work on my Stationary Project.
After formulating a plan and identifying my message and audience. I really wanted
to make a fun, trendy looking logo for my bakery so I designed the cute little bird and
then used the color scheme from the bird in the rest of the design.
I really like the script look for the first part of the name and then I went looking for
another font to contrast. I wanted the back of the business card to pop so I chose a
solid background with a fun phrase in a white font. I think that it has nice contrast.
For the stationary I basically just turned the business card vertical but left the text
horizontal.
I unified the elements in each design by repeating the colors from the name of the
business. The fifth and final step was to simplify the design. My design went through
multiple critiques that helped me fine tune my designs.
Brochure
Description: A two sided (duplex) folding brochure.
Programs: For this project I used Adobe Indesign and Photoshop.
Date: December 06, 2014
Course: Communications 130
Instructor: Ben Pingel
Objectives: To learn how to use Indesign effectively to express ideas.
Process: I set up the an ofset fold in InDesign. I used a single image to to create
a bright, eye catching front and back cover. On the inside background I used
and image of barn wood to give the brochure the feeling of a farm. I used black
rectangles, throughout the brochure to create repetition and flow.
I also used the repeating shape of a heart to unify but to also to show that fruit and
veggies are good for your health. For the image of the fruit in the shape of a heart
I used the quick selection tool in Adobe Photoshop to remove the background of
the image. I smoothed the edge, added a feather to the image.
I used this image for the required text wrap and I think that it turned out nicely.I
created the logo in Illustrator using the pen tool and then I placed it into InDesign.
My design went through multiple critiques that helped me fine tune my designs.

Process: For this project I used Adobe Photoshop.
Date: October 18, 2014
Course: Communications 130
Instructor: Ben Pingel
Objectives: To use Photoshop to create enhanced photographs.
Process: I used the FOCUS process as I started to work on my Photodesign. My
first step was to formulate a plan. In that step I identified my message and audience.
Step two was to Organize the information. Here I worked with the image and some
large and small rectangles to create the layout of this design.
I really tried to make the image the focus of this design. Third was to create Contrast.
I did this by using an analogous color scheme or brick, orange and gold to pull out the
vibrate Fall colors in the image. Fourth step was to Unify the elements. I did this by
repeating the color scheme and by using similar shapes and colors.
The fifth and final step was to Simplify the design. My design went through multiple
critiques that helped give me a better direction for my design. I didnt want to add any
more text to the design. I wanted it to have the feel of a postcard. Working through
this process has helped me created what I think to be an attractive design.
Webpage
Description: A web page designed to showcase the logo I created.
Process:
I created this web page using Note Pad ++, Word and Photoshop
grammatical errors, plus its easier to see it in Word vs Note Pad ++. I then attached
the pre-made CSS document to my HTML document, which was much easier than
coming up with all of it by myself. To create repetition I used the colors from my logo
as the colors for my web page. I found the hex colors using the eyedropper tool in
Photoshop. I also changed my fonts to Lobster 1.4 and Cabin Regular.
The internet told me that I need to have alternative fonts just in case certain browsers
couldnt read my first choice. After I had everything put together I was able to receive
good critiques to help me focus on the areas that needed to be altered to create the
final draft of my website.
