Santeria

Rastafarianism

Voodoo

This religion was

developed in the Spanish
Empire. They speak the
language known as
Lucumi. It is a system that
merges into the Yoruba
Mythology and is really
religious. They do not have
a central creed where they
do their religious practices
but they do have a place
called Casa de Santos
which means house of
Saints. This religion was
brought into the new world
by Yoruba slaves that
believe in Christianity and
also Indigenous American
traditions. It also has the
worship of Orisha which
means head guardians.
They believe in different
Saints then the Christianity
religion and they have
different meanings to each
other. They have a God
and he referred to as
Olorun and also known as
the owner of heaven. Thy
have ritual sacrifices that
are animals and they are
normally chicken and they
use their blood as the
sacrifice. It is suppose to
revive them from their sins,
please the Saints and also
bring good luck.

This religion is very widely

practiced in Jamaica about
5-10 percent of the
population of Jamaica
practices this religion.
Rastafarianism is a black,
political movement that
occurred in the 1930s.
Which means that this is a
very young religion
compared to all the other
religions for the most part. In
the early stages of the
movement most Rastas
didn't even get to vote.
There are only two types of
ceremonies in this religion
and they are Reasoning and
Groundation. A Reasoning
is where all of the Rastas
people join together, smoke
Cannabis and discuss. And
Groundation is a holy day.
Rastas believe that they are
the children of Israel. They
have beliefs in Judaism and
also in Christianity. They
have many beliefs in the
Bible and sometimes go by
the Bible and they also
believe in Jesus Christ. There
are about 100,000
Rastafarians in Jamaica.

There is actually no
single founder of the
religion Voodoo. There is
also no actual date or
specific date that Voodoo
when it started being
practiced. The spiritual
expression is an African
animism, spiritism, and
indigenous religion. This
religion is practiced all
over the place and they
are mainly practiced in
these countries West
Africa, Haiti, Puerto Rico,
Brazil, Cuba, the
Dominican Republic, and
America, especially in
Louisiana. There are a
lot of Voodoo and the
way they believe things
because it depends on
where it is practiced and
what school of practice.
there is many ways to do
this which is a lot
different from most
religions because in
some religions you
believe what the religion
believes and there isnt
choices after you are
born into that religion and
that isnt the case here.
In Voodoo there is a
strong parallel or even
say huge relation to
Christianity. They are
also accepted into the
Catholic church.
Damballa is known as
the serpent God and the
oldest in the Voodoo

pantheon.
