Anyone is welcome to participate in any activities of the church that they like. Membership is not
required. The only actual benefits to being a member instead of simply an attender are the right to
vote at our annual Church Conference and the right to apply to be on our Leadership Board. So
why become a member of Platteville United Methodist Church?
Membership is about being part of something larger than yourself. Membership recognizes that you
have gifts that are needed by the Body of Christ and that you want to share them. Membership
says, This is my church, and I take some responsibility for it. Membership is taking your place as
part of the Body of Christ.
On March 22nd, membership class participants will learn about the Platteville United Methodist
Churchs ministry and mission, expectations and next steps. Please let the church office know by
March 15 how many will attend so we can plan for lunch and child care.

Becka Craugh, McKenzie Scanlan, and Anapaula Munoz have reached their goals for the Pie-In-the
-Face Fundraiser! On March 1st, the girls will be pied, a parent will be pied, Dave Carnahan, Dean
Goninen, Dan Whitford will be pied and Pastor Liz will be pied. Well have a Fling into Spring
potluck lunch before the pie throwing. Please join us for this great fun!
The participants for this years mission trip are: Hayden Adrian, Becka Craugh, Alec Ganarajah,
Anapaula Munoz, Nate Reatiga, McKenzie Scanlan and Tia Stohlmeyer with Warner Smidt, Tony
Wieseler, and Pastor Liz as the adults. We have had a great start with fundraisers, and look
forward to our spring fundraisers of yard work and the brat sale to bring in the rest of the money that
we need for mission trip!
On Sunday February 15th, 9 youth and adults went to Mississippi River Museum in Dubuque, IA.
We had a great time! The youth really enjoyed marveling at Gods creation of aquatic life!
The fourth and fifth grade youth had a fantastic time at our first event on February 6 th. We had 9
youth that participated! We had fun activities and talked about the parables.
Our next event is: March 13th from 6-8pm. Our mission is to allow the pre-teens the fun of youth
group, while helping them get into the hang of coming and being together in the church! If you know
of a fourth or fifth grade youth that would like to join us, please let Pastor Liz know! We are also still
looking for adult volunteers! Nate Fosbinder, Sara Koeller, and Shaina Stone had a great time
helping last month, and are looking forward to this month as well! Dont you want to help?!
Campus Ministry
Pioneer Wesley has had a great start to this semester! We have had 6 students for free dinner and
Bible Study each Tuesday night so far!!
Currently the group is also working on organizing a mission trip May18-26th. More information will

CHILDRENS MINITSTRY
Easter Story: During the next few weeks our Sunday School lessons will be about the
stories of Holy Week. Because we will have studied the stories of Palm Sunday, the Last
Supper, the Crucifixion and the Resurrection of Christ, children will have this background
knowledge, and would be able to relate to the special church services of Holy Week. I would
encourage you to bring children to church on Palm Sunday, Easter Sunday, and the evening
services on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. There will be NO Sunday School on Easter
Sunday.
Singing in Worship Services: Pastor Brenda has been singing with the younger
children during our Sunday School time. They will be performing their songs on Sunday,
March 1, during the 11:00 service. On Palm Sunday, the children will sing at both services,
and on Easter Sunday, they will sing at the 11:00 service.
Engineers Without Borders: Our children have raised $____.__ so far for the
Engineers Without Borders mission project. Be sure to check out the bulletin board in the
upstairs hallway for pictures of the school buildings taken last summer. The project group will
be traveling back to Ghana next summer to continue their work. The money our children have
raised will help the group with materials and travel expenses.
Coffee Fellowship/Bake Sales: The children are sponsoring the Coffee/Fellowship and
a bake sale each month to raise money for this mission project. On March 1, the PK-1st grade
and the 2nd-3rd grade Sunday School classes will be hosting, and the 4th-5th grade class will
host on April 12.

Redeemers Soup-er Bowl Fundraiser was delayed by one week due to bad weather but that didnt
stop the group from having a very successful event. In their 5 th season, this musical youth ministry
always finds tremendous support from Platteville UMC, plus extended family and friends and for
that they THANK YOU! Redeemer is made up of 14 talented high school aged students from
Platteville and the surrounding area playing contemporary Christian music. The group practices
weekly with performances for church services, youth events and festivals. The funds raised assist
with travel expenses, equipment and other miscellaneous items to support the band.
