The school counselor's role is to advocate for and support all students, especially underserved populations, by ensuring access to a quality education. Counselors should use the ASCA model to create well-rounded programs addressing students' academic, career, and social-emotional needs. It is their job to empower students to meet their full potential. Additionally, counselors should work closely with parents and community leaders to build student support networks and provide access to resources. They must advocate for rigorous academic programs and challenge all students to achieve their maximum potential in an inclusive environment.

Theory of School Counseling
I believe the School Counselor responsibility is to become an advocate and a support
agent for all students but especially for those who are underserved. My belief is that every student needs and deserves an optimum quality of education. Its our responsibility as school counselors to provide the students with a solid foundation and a reliable support system within the school to help them grow into responsible and successful citizens. I consider that every school counselor should believe and use the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) model to unsure that they creating well-rounded programs that reach all students academic, career, and social/emotional needs. I believe that its the school counselors job to empower all students especially those who are underserved to challenge each and every single one of them to meet their full potential. I believe that the schools success is also measured by how much the parental, community and families involvement the school has. Therefore, it should be the School Counselors priority to work closely with the parents and community leaders to build a school community where students have additional support. Counselors should provide students with additional resources personally and also using technology so they can have access to whatever they need. Additionally, the School Counselors need to advocate for all of their students to ensure that they are in an environment where they are being academically challenged to ensure that can reach their maximum potential. They should strongly encouraged the principal to provide AP courses, BI courses or any rigorous curriculum that will challenge students and prepare them to be college ready. A professional school counselor should uphold the highest ethical and legal standards. He or she should also participate in professional development to keep up-to-date with the best practices in the field of school counseling. School counselors should hold themselves and as well as their students to the highest standards of learning. They should be committed to having a life of continued learning. More importantly, School Counselors should have a multicultural approach to ensure that all of the students despite of their cultural background have the same access to resources and a good quality of education. Lastly, they should create a school environment where all the students feel welcomed and accepted regardless of their sexuality, race and/ or gender.
