School year 2015-2016: Carnegie Elementary School, Chicago, IL
Worked in fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grade IB accelerated courses. Independently facilitated
after school study program four days a week. Independently planned and taught the seventh
grade class full time. Designed and implemented seventh grade curriculum. Co-planned and cotaught other classes according to MSUs internship schedule. Gained progressively more
responsibility in all classes leading to full course planning and teaching sixth, seventh, and eighth
grade from February to May.
PRE-INTERNSHIP FIELD EXPERIENCE
Spring 2011: Field placement at East Lansing High School 5 hours total
Worked in high school English 3 and British Literature classes. Observed lectures and class
activities, provided one-on-one support for struggling students, graded papers and witnessed
lesson planning and curriculum development strategies.
Fall 2012: Field placement at Gardner Middle School 2 hours per week
Worked at Gardner Middle School through the Refugee Development Centers after school
tutoring program. Worked with students one-on-one and in small groups, assisted in school work,
discussed successful study strategies with students, assisted in English development, observed
classroom management techniques.
Spring 2014: Field placement at MacDonald Middle School 2 hours per week
Worked in seventh-grade English class. Observed lessons and class activities, provided one-onone support for struggling students, provided classroom management support for mentor teacher
by working with students who had behavioral issues, proctored standardized tests, taught selected
lessons.
Fall 2014: Field placement at Michigan State University 4 hours per week
