    Happy New Year!

    Reminders

    I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! Im excited to


    start the new year off with the firsties in full gear. 2016 will be
    a great one. I am adding a monthly behavior chart so
    students can keep track of what color they have been on
    throughout the month. I am hoping this will help them with
    tracking their own behavior. It is to be kept in the pocket of
    their homework folder. Please check this every night.

    What Are We Learning This Week?


    Reading and Writing: We will be moving into our next unit
    which is making connections and inferences. Children love
    making and talking about connections because it really
    helps them understand the story better and, of course,
    talking about how it relates to them is a benefit! They will
    also be writing about themselves. We will be working on
    personal narratives in the upcoming weeks. Please make
    sure your child is reading every night.
    Math: This week we are beginning subtraction! This is very
    exciting because its something that they will be doing
    throughout their life. Please practice this at home as much
    as you can. The erasers I sent home last month would be
    great manipulatives for them to practice with.
    Science/History: We will be administering midyear PALs for
    the next couple of weeks so in between that time we will be
    reviewing plants in work stations and also learning about
    George Washington Carver, Eleanor Roosevelt, and
    Benjamin Franklin.
