(403) 343-2455 + FAX (409) 842-7638 March 15th, 2016 ‘To whom it may concern: | was privileged to work with Tracy Knecht during the months of September 2015 to April 2016. She taught Math at the Grade 7 level at Eastview Middle School. Tracy became active in the school almost immediately and wanted to take over as much of the teacher's responsibilities as possible. Tracy worked with the students in many different situations outside of the classroom, She helped the students with school work at lunch and after school. She accomplished all of this while doing a fabulous job teaching, When in the classroom, Tracy had confidence and developed the skills of an experienced teacher. She worked hard to manage the classroom and build a rapport with all the students. Tracy's planning and the delivery of her lessons was exceptional. She learned to thoroughly plan each lesson making sure the students remained on task. This helped her in the management of her classes. Tracy also was not afraid to make adjustments if the lesson was not going as planned. She was always self-evaluating herself looking for ways that she could improve on her teaching. Although Tracy was teaching math during her practicum literacy and a love for reading was something she tried to address while here. She had a word wall that she would tie into multiple lessons throughout, having the students have a better understanding of the concepts through the vocabulary. Tracy also brought in a number of different books from her own collection for the students to use during reading period. She would focus on those students that would avoid reading during reading period and try to find the style of books that they enjoyed. Ms. Knecht became a large part of our staff while working at Eastview. She took the time to ask questions of other teachers and visited numerous classes to observe different teaching styles. Tracy went above and beyond selecting to do an extended practicum which brought her into the school more often, and Tracy would often volunteer additional days so that she would get to know the students even better. Tracy was always positive and friendly to the students as well as. all staff members. With her desire to teach and her love of kids, | believe Tracy would be a tremendous asset to any school. | would highly recommend Ms. Knecht continue in the field of education.
