WRITING CHEMICAL EQUATIONS –Part 2 (d) Potassium hydroxide + sulphuric acid → Potassium sulphate +

1. Balance the following chemical equations: water

(a) CaCO3 + HCl → CaCl2 + H2O + CO2 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(b) Al2O3 + Mg → MgO + Al (e) Nitric acid + ammonia → ammonium nitrate

(c) C 2 H4 + O2  CO2 + H2O -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(d) Fe + Cl2 → FeCl3 (f) lead(II) nitrate → lead(II)oxide + nitrogen dioxide + oxygen

(e) Na + H2O → NaOH + H2 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(f) K2O + H2O → KOH (g) copper(II) carbonate + nitric acid → copper(II) nitrate +

water + carbon dioxide

2. Write a balanced equation for the following reactions:
CuCO3 + 2HNO3  CU(NO3 )2 + H2O + CO2
a) Aluminium + oxygen → Aluminium oxide
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Write a balanced equation for the reaction lithium with oxygen, water
(b) Magnesium + iron(III) oxide → iron + Magnesium oxide
and chlorine.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i. Li + O2 →
(c) zinc + sulphuric acid → zinc sulphate + hydrogen
ii. Li + H2O 
